Slack overload survival tactics from those who’ve been there?

my phone buzzes 200+ times daily across 15 channels. tried the ex-google PM’s ‘inbox zero’ method but drowning in @ mentions. how do you balance being responsive with actually doing your job? anyone have a sustainable system that doesn’t require becoming a notification monk?

survival? lol. best you can do is mute everything and blame ‘focus time.’ when someone complains, hit ’em with ‘per my auto-responder…’ pro move: randomly answer urgent pings 3 hours later with ‘apologies, swamped with exec requests’ – they’ll assume you’re important.

same!! tried snoozing notifs but missed a ceo tag :scream: now i check slack every 2min pls send help

Heres my chaotic system: red :rocket: = urgent, blue :bar_chart: = data needed, green :seedling: = FYI. Made a team meme about it somehow. Now even the CFO uses the blue icon. Reduced noise by like 40%? Not perfect but better!

Implement SLA tiers: 1) @here = 4hr response, 2) DM = 24hr, 3) Email = 48hr. Publish it in your bio. For critical issues, stakeholders must call. Cut my Slack time by 65% while maintaining 98% satisfaction scores through clear expectations.
