Hey everyone! I’ve been getting ready to apply for product management positions at various technology companies and I’m looking for study buddies who might be interested in doing practice interviews together. I think it would be really helpful to run through some mock interview scenarios with other people who are also preparing for similar roles. We could take turns asking each other typical PM interview questions and give feedback on our answers. I’m hoping to find a few people who are serious about practicing and improving their interview skills. If you’re also preparing for product manager interviews and want to team up for some practice sessions, let me know! I think practicing with others will help us all get more comfortable with the interview process and improve our chances of landing these roles.
This sounds amazing! I’m in the same situation and would love to join. Mock interviews really help build confidence and catch things you’d miss practicing alone. Count me in!
I’ve been doing this for months and video calls definitely beat text practice. You can actually see body language and presentation skills - both huge for PM roles. Time each other too. Most people ramble during practice then completely freeze under real pressure. Start with behavioral questions before tackling case studies though.
Great idea! Structure these sessions around specific companies since each tech firm does interviews differently. Google hammers analytical thinking, Amazon’s all about their leadership principles, and Meta focuses on execution questions. Do company-specific prep rounds - research their exact interview styles and practice those. Also, practice with people from different backgrounds. Engineers, designers, and business people give you perspectives that match real interview panels. Just don’t wing it - prep beforehand and take these sessions seriously.
I’m interested but finding consistent practice partners has been tough. Discord PM prep servers worked best for me - tons of people in the same boat. You’ve gotta be upfront about timeline and commitment from day one. My last group fell apart because everyone had different urgency levels. Let’s start with quick intros where everyone shares target companies and timelines? That way we match people who’ll actually show up. The feedback part is huge - I improved way more when people called out my rambling!
Just went through this myself - here’s what actually works for practice groups. Don’t just chat casually about interviews. Set up a rotating schedule where someone leads each session and focuses on one thing: product design, technical strategy, or behavioral questions. Keep it to 3-4 people max. Any bigger and you won’t get real feedback. Block out specific time for each PM interview area and use actual time limits like you’ll face in real interviews. Record your sessions - you’ll catch things you missed in the moment. The accountability alone beats practicing solo every time. Want to make this work? Start with a quick video call to set ground rules before you jump into mock interviews.
Good luck finding people who’ll stick around past 2 sessions. I tried this - half the group vanished once they got interviews or realized practice takes effort. Skip anyone who says they’re “serious about improving” - they ghost first when it gets tough. Find someone desperate enough to show up consistently, even if they’re not aiming for FAANG. You’ll get some practice before they bail too.
