Blanket networking pitches backfired hard last season. Need frameworks to customize my value prop by division and seniority. If the community’s “Elevator Pitch Matrix” helped you, share examples - what do you lead with when approaching sales vs advisory bankers? How detailed should technicals get?
md’s want deals, analysts want promos. tell the md you’ll save them time, tell the analyst you’ll make them look smart. technicals? nobody cares unless you’re interviewing. just nod when they rant about the fed.
i memorized 5 pitches but froze when a md asked about duration gaps… how do u prepare for random questions??
Tailor ruthlessly: MDs need bottom-line impact - lead with deal-making capacity (“I source Asian family offices for private placements”). Analysts need execution support - highlight technical readiness (“Built 27 LBO models last semester”). Technical depth: Level 1 for C-suite, Level 3 for associates.
You’re amazing! Add a fun fact about yourself to stand out! ![]()
I once compared bond convexity to sourdough fermentation in a pitch…MD laughed but remembered me. Got the invite! Sometimes weird analogies > jargon.
Data indicates 78% of MDs prioritize revenue potential in pitches vs 56% of analysts focusing on skill alignment. For sales teams: emphasize client acquisition metrics. For advisory: highlight complex modeling exposure. Optimal technical depth: 2 industry-specific metrics per 60-second pitch.
