How do live feedback sessions with actual bankers prevent robotic storytelling in behavioral interviews?

I’ve been grinding through mock interviews, but my IBD mentor says I still sound like I’m reading from a script. Has anyone done those live feedback sessions with current bankers? How exactly do they help you tweak stories to be more authentic? Specifically curious about how they point out where you’re being too generic. Would love examples of how people adjusted their ‘deal challenge’ stories after real banker input.

the secret sauce? bankers get bored of their own recycled questions. they’ll sniff out prepackaged answers faster than a MD spotting a typo in a pitchbook. only way to not sound like a bot is get roasted by associates who’ve heard every cliche since 2008. pain = progress, kid.

did 3 sessions last week! they kept asking ‘why’d u make THAT choice’ til i ran out corpo-speak. still shaky but better than my school’s career center stuff. def need 2 practice more tho

You’ve got this! Live feedback was game-changing for me - turns real bankers actually want to hear your authentic self shine through!

Had a brutal session where the banker stopped me mid-answer and said ‘nobody cares about your student council BS.’ Rewrote my whole leadership example around troubleshooting a Bloomberg terminal crash during finals week. Way more technical and shows actual problem-solving.

Analysis of 127 feedback session transcripts shows 73% of candidates improved authenticity scores by focusing on 2-3 specific deal mechanics rather than general teamwork. Recommend preparing 3 variations of each story with adjustable levels of technical detail based on interviewer seniority.
