Tech to consulting switch: how to quantify non-client facing achievements?

Transitioning from FAANG product management. My projects improved internal tools, not client metrics. How have other career-switchers reframed these achievements? Specifically stuck on translating stack ranking in perf reviews to consulting-style impact statements. Any frameworks for valuing operational efficiency gains?

Was in same boat! Framed my Azure optimization work as ‘equivalent to 3 FTE capacity savings’ using internal SLA metrics. Consultant friend helped rephrase it as ‘released $2.1M in annual productivity capacity’ using our hourly rate math. Got multiple interviews after that tweak!

Convert peer rankings to impact: ‘Top 10% performer’ → ‘Delivered solutions 23% faster than team average.’ Use internal calibration data to approximate dollar value - even if proprietary, ‘equivalent to $X savings based on internal efficiency benchmarks’ passes screening.

they don’t care about your actual work - just map it to their buzzword bingo. ‘Agile development’ becomes ‘iterative stakeholder management.’ Internal tool optimization? Call it ‘capability building program with 300% ROI’ - they’ll eat it up if you sound confident.
