Struggling to get responses from pm hiring managers – are cold templates actually working for anyone here?

I’ve been using the community’s peer-vetted networking templates for PM outreach, but my response rate is still abysmal. Tried personalizing subject lines and adding metrics, but maybe I’m missing the secret sauce? Those who landed PM roles using these templates: did you modify them radically or follow them verbatim? How do you balance professionalism with standing out in cold DMs?

lol ‘vetted templates’ are just recycled corporate speak. real secret? stalk their linkedin for 20 mins min. find their pet project from 2018, ask one sharp q about it. works better than any script. bonus if u mention their failed startup – shows u did homework

i got 2 replies this week! i added meme refs from their twitter to the templates. prob not professional but hey it worked??

Effective template use requires strategic adaptation. Focus on demonstrating how your unique background solves their current pain points - reference recent product launches they’ve championed. One member secured 9 interviews by linking their operations experience to scaling challenges mentioned in the hiring manager’s podcast appearances.

keep trying! my third template tweak finally clicked – you’ve got this :flexed_biceps:

I once spent hours polishing a template only to get ghosted. Then I sent a casual voice note instead – hiring manager said it felt human. Now I mix templates with random personal touches. No science, just throwing spaghetti at the wall tbh
