How do you showcase deal contributions without becoming ‘that analyst’ who humblebrags in every meeting? I’ve heard everything from ‘let your work speak’ (useless) to ‘keep a brag doc’ (cringe). What stealth tactics have you seen successfully position analysts for promo without triggering eye rolls?
stealth tactic = have your staffer casually mention your late nights to the MD. ‘Brag docs’ get leaked faster than M&A rumors. Pro move: ‘forget’ your annotated model in the printer outside the partners’ lounge. Bonus points if it’s flagged as confidential so they HAVE to look.
Leverage post-deal wash-ups. Instead of listing your contributions, ask strategic questions like ‘Could we have saved 2 weeks by front-loading vendor due diligence?’ This demonstrates ownership while appearing collaborative. Management remembers who speaks in solution-oriented terms rather than credit-claiming.
my buddy says to cc MDs on all model fixes but that feels icky. is there a spreadsheet formula for visibility??
