Hi everyone! I just finished my interviews yesterday for a Business Analyst role at their North American location. I’m wondering how McKinsey evaluates candidates when interview performance varies between rounds? Also, what’s the typical timeline for hearing back from them? The interviewers mentioned they’re doing internal discussions at the office and couldn’t meet in person due to current restrictions. If things don’t work out this time, what other paths exist to eventually join McKinsey (please don’t suggest MBA route)? I’d love to hear about different approaches people have taken, especially through experienced hire positions.
First Round: The interviewer really questioned my personal experience deeply and I got nervous after that. My case study didn’t go well because I was rattled. When they challenged my framework approach, I couldn’t recover properly during the data interpretation section. However, with their guidance on the quantitative part, I managed to work through all the calculations.
Second Round: My personal examples went smoothly and the case study was excellent. I felt relaxed, confident, and genuinely enjoyed the conversation. The only concern might be the math portion, but my interviewer guided me through it and I completed all the problems.
Given this mixed showing, what outcome should I realistically expect?
