Hello everyone, I’m seeking some guidance on potential career paths in finance, consulting, and technology.
Here’s where I stand:
I’ve received an offer to become an Associate Consultant at a firm specializing in SAP solutions for Treasury and Finance, areas where SAP plays a vital role in enterprise operations and is widely adopted by major companies.
I’m considering pursuing CFA Level 1 as a backup option to enhance my credibility in finance.
Additionally, I’m eager to develop skills in AI and digital transformation, particularly how AI works in conjunction with SAP, such as through SAP S/4HANA and AI-driven automation.
My long-term aspiration:
I aim for a position in management consulting, ideally with leading companies like MBB. However, I’m contemplating whether specializing in a blend of SAP, AI, and finance consulting could give me an edge, especially with the rise of AI and the intricate nature of enterprise systems.
It’s clear that leading tech companies like Google, Meta, and Microsoft are at the forefront of AI innovations, but SAP also plays a crucial role in ERP and financial operations, often partnering with big tech rather than competing directly.
Considering that all firms will need to adopt AI solutions, do you think that combining SAP consulting with AI skills will enhance my value and keep me ahead compared to focusing solely on CFA or traditional strategy consulting?
From my perspective, the most leverage will come from skill sets and knowledge that clients can’t recapture through AI tools like ChatGPT, which involves customized and intricate consulting led by human insight.
From my discussions with industry professionals, it seems that concentrating on SAP, AI, and finance consulting could position me as a rare talent bridging advanced enterprise technologies with AI solutions.
While the CFA is a solid backup, it seems less relevant to AI or SAP consulting.
I’d like your thoughts:
How do you envision the evolution of roles for SAP consultants integrating AI compared to traditional strategy consultants in the next 5 years?
I’d appreciate any experiences or insights from those who’ve walked a similar path and have ideas on mixing enterprise technology, AI, and finance for a rewarding consulting career.
Thank you all for your help!
