How to handle unexpected valuation questions from bulge bracket interviewers?

prepping for my upcoming interviews and terrified of getting blindsided by obscure valuation questions. heard the community has real-world edge cases from BB analysts - anyone actually used these to practice? how do you recommend structuring study sessions with them? specifically need help translating edge cases into coherent responses under pressure.

lol ‘structured study sessions.’ kid, they’ll hit you with the same 3 tricks every time - sum of parts when there’s disposals, negative EV scenarios, or growth rate curveballs. the BB examples help, but quit overengineering. memorize 5 frameworks cold and fake confidence. they dont want geniuses, they want rote performers who don’t choke

try the london approach template from the library! worked for my CS offcycle. maybe timebox 15min per case? idk tho im new

Focus on pattern recognition. The edge case library’s value comes from exposing you to recurring thematic challenges - regulatory impacts on DCF assumptions, cyclical industry multiples misapplication, etc. Create a two-tier system: First, internalize 10 key scenarios through timed drills. Second, practice explaining your logic to a layperson. That builds both speed and clarity.

you’ve got this!! those edge cases are gold - break them into bite-sized chunks. positive mindset wins :flexed_biceps:
