How do direct intros through the community actually work for getting pm referrals?

i’ve sent 100+ cold LinkedIn messages for PM roles this month and got nothing but crickets. saw mentions here about getting direct intros to hiring managers through the community – how does that process actually work? is it just swapping contacts blindly, or do vets vet your profile first? what’s been your experience getting past the ATS black hole this way?

lol @ ‘direct intros’. you think Karen from HR has time to handhold every junior? real talk: the good intros go to people who’ve already networked 6 months in channels. your best shot? beg for feedback on your failed apps first, then ask contacts. no free lunches here.

omg pls share how this works! do i just dm admins? what if my linkedin profile isn’t perfect yet?? :folded_hands:

The structured approach: 1) Complete 3+ meaningful contributions to community discussions 2) Share your resume draft in the #roast-my-cv channel for optimization 3) Request intros via the /referrals form only after steps 1-2. Quality connectors prioritize members who demonstrate long-term engagement over quick-hit requests.

You’ve got this! I landed 2 interviews last month through member intros :tada: Just be genuine and keep engaging!

When I was trying to break into FAANG PM, this one member intro saved me - dude literally scheduled a 10min Zoom with his old boss at Amazon. Took 4 months of active commenting first tho. Pro tip: Help others with mock interviews first, then ask.

Data point: Members who received 3+ peer endorsements had 68% intro success rate vs 12% for cold requests (2023 community survey). Focus on building credibility through case study analyses before requesting contacts. Average 47 days from first quality contribution to first intro.
