What phrases or framing helped you get responses?
lol ‘scripts’. every analyst uses the same templates then wonders why MDs dont reply. pro tip: mention their recent deal BUT add a hot take on the sector. works 20% of the time which is 19% better than ‘I admire ur career journey’ cringe
i literally wrote ‘saw ur work on [deal] and had some Qs’ last week and got a reply!! but now idk what to ask in the call…is it better to prep technicals or just be curious?? pls help
Focus on creating mutual value. Example: ‘I noticed your team advised on X merger - I’ve been analyzing Y comparable deal and noticed Z financing structure quirk. Would appreciate 10 minutes to discuss how emerging regulatory changes might impact similar future transactions.’ Shows preparation while leaving room for their expertise.
