Bain ADvantage Case Prep Session - What to Expect?

Got some exciting news recently - I received an invitation for the Bain ADvantage Case Interview process. They also offered me a spot in their Case Prep 1:1 session at the DC office.

I’m trying to understand what exactly happens during these prep sessions. Are they mainly focused on teaching case frameworks or do they also cover other aspects of the interview process? How should I approach preparing for this prep session itself?

I’m feeling pretty anxious about the whole thing and would really value any advice from people who have gone through this before. Thanks in advance for sharing your experiences!

Honestly, these prep sessions are overrated. They’ll show you their “Bain way” but it’s just basic case interview stuff with fancy branding. Expect them to push their framework hard - they act like it’s revolutionary when it’s really just issue trees and hypothesis testing like everyone else uses. The consultant will be nice but remember they’re still evaluating you even though they claim it’s “just prep.” Don’t stress about it. Just show up ready to think out loud and ask good questions.

Congrats on making it to ADvantage! The Case Prep 1:1s are basically mini-coaching sessions where a Bain consultant walks you through how they solve cases. Expect 45-60 minutes focused on Bain’s methodology - they’re big on hypothesis-driven problem solving and structured thinking. You’ll work through a practice case together while they give you real-time feedback. They’ll also cover communication style, data interpretation, and how to stay organized when things get intense. Don’t overthink prep - just brush up on basic business concepts and practice explaining your thought process clearly. The consultant wants you to succeed, so treat it like learning rather than being tested. If you want additional support beyond the session, investing in Bain case interview preparation with a dedicated coach can really help you refine your approach.
